Description

As one of the senior technology leaders within the GGO business, you will be responsible for leading the technology function supporting GGO MAR’s long-term growth initiatives, leading technology work on product enhancements/upgrades, and partnering with senior leadership to manage and align technology investments across the business. Actively participate as a key business partner in the development of technology strategies and solutions that align with GGO MAR business and operational goals.

The role will likely lead a small team in 2014 and grow the technology function with the business; i.e. this is an opportunity to design and implement a technology function from the ground up in a fast growing market.
MAR product solutions will combine existing Thomson Reuters assets and, where necessary, locally developed solutions to maximize profitable growth in the MAR region.

The role will report to the Head of Product Development and Technology in MAR, and will have a “dotted line” reporting relationship to the Chief Technology Officer of GGO.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement technology strategy for GGO MAR.
- Ensure successful execution of GGO MAR technology projects.
- Co-lead joint development efforts with other Thomson Reuters business units in support of GGO product initiatives.
- Lead technology due diligence for all acquisitions in region.
- Remain abreast of technology developments and business models, and proactively align the technology strategies/goals with strategic business goals. Establish and manage relationships with software and hardware vendors and provide direction on hardware, software, consulting and associated infrastructure requirements and timelines. Manage and report on the contractual obligations of those partnerships.
- Ensure critical Thomson Reuters technology standards are successfully implemented.
- Initial phase of this role will be as an individual contributor partnering with technology teams from around Thomson Reuters. The team will likely grow as the needs of the business and the projects undertaken dictate.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Required skills and experience:
- Minimum 10 years of related work experience, with progressively increasing responsibility.
- Deep understanding of and experience leading the development of financial information systems.
- Demonstrated aptitude for learning and applying new technologies.
- Strong leadership skills, including proven ability to motivate teams and work accross a matrix organisation to accomplish challenging goals. Ability to develop organizational, team and employee competencies that result in a more innovative, adaptive and knowledgeable staff.
- Ability to interpret, shape and communicate company vision and research and implement solutions to meet the strategic needs of the business.
- Ability to work proactively and effectively in a fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to organize, plan, and manage large-scale development projects with multi-site global technology teams on tight timelines.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and collaborate up, down and across the organization, partner with other business and technology areas, and a proven ability to build and maintain relationships across the organization and with outside vendors.
- Strong ability to work directly with customers to assess technology and product needs.
- Ability to form and lead virtual teams in the region and across Thomson Reuters.
- Solid technical understanding of application development and related technologies plus an understanding of data networks.
- Experience with content management systems a plus.

Preferred skills:

Experence of Thomson Reuters organisation and structure is an advantage.
