Role Summary/Purpose The AP Technician III reports to the AP Supervisor and is responsible for performing simple to complex job tasks in the AP lab in a timely and efficient manner. Essential Responsibilities - Need to perform simple to complex job task by following the established departmental protocols. This includes a wide range of tasks from unloading of instruments, cover slipping of slides, basic data entry, labeling slides, microtomy, embedding of tissue, performing basic IHC using autostainers, etc. These tasks must be performed in a timely and efficient manner. - Work with pathologists and/or other departments troubleshoot cross departmental issues. - Prepare and perform clinical specimens for testing and maintain quality with efficiency. - Taka a main role in preparing and QC the reagents and chemicals by using the DOPs. - Cleaning and maintenance of the lab equipment. Documenting instrument issues using LIS and performing test runs. - Performing and maintaining documentation of titrations and lot to lot testing. - Maintain laboratory in a clean, functional state, as well as cleaning or performing scheduling equipment and instrument maintenance / calibration / certifications, as required. - Perform antibody prep and maintain proper documentation. - Train staff and/or new hires. - Adheres to Department Specific Safety Guidelines. - Standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, manual manipulation, and lifting up to 15 pounds. - Other duties as assigned by Medical Laboratory Director or VP of Operations. Read and understand all the SOPs related to discipline and adhere to all department rules and protocols. 5. Ensures the QC processes are established and followed as required. 6. Ensures QI metrics are established and followed as required. 7. Ensure laboratory operates with no major systematic deficiencies as determined by external audits (CAP, NYS).
