Project Engineer – Civil Jul 10th 2013, 09:46 Job Summary: - Ensure the effective achievement of projects in line with company requirements. Ensure that the cost, timeline, scope and safety measures in all the assigned projects are met at all times. Principle Responsibilities: Planning the Projects - Prepare and update the project schedule with timelines and tasks to be completed - Assist the project Manager to research vendors/suppliers' capabilities; identify a pool of candidate vendor/suppliers for the project consideration. - Assist the Project Manager and Liaise with the consultant in the process of concept/preliminary design phase, detailed design phase and tender documentation phase till the final submission of each stage. Coordinate with the consultants and review designs to ensure conformity to project specifications. - Coordinate the liaison with relevant Statutory Authorities and Utility Providers (DEWA, Municipality, Civil Defense, EHS, Etisalat, RTA, Sewerage Etc.) - Prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures. Supervising and Managing the Execution of Projects - Monitor and record the progress of the contractor and subcontractors. - Follow up on the construction progress and mitigate delays with professional engineering plans. - Prepare, maintain data and analyze overall project program progress & procurement activities accordingly - Coordinate with supply chain management for procurement related activities as applicable, ensuring timely releasing of specifications, offers from vendors, clarifications and technical evaluation - Record works additional to the original requirements and all variations and revisions, which must be incorporated in the site plan and inform the appropriate staff and sub-contractors on any changes to their work schedule and any alterations to the targets previously set. -Monitor the field works & contractors work, to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications and codes - Supervise all the post award participants on the project - be it consultants or contractors/ vendors and to ensure their activities are in accordance with the approved drawings, contract specifications, method statements, quality and schedule. - Review and Process RFI's, change orders, material submittals etc. before passing to Project Manager - Supervise the installation and the construction tasks, start up and commissioning in coordination with the consultants/suppliers as per the agreed schedule - Arrange meetings between the consultant and the suppliers and the concerned departments to solicit feedback and the proposals on the progress of the project. - Ensure that all required inspections and tests are carried out and all permits are available for works and all safety measures are taken during the job execution - Supervise day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope. Assist Project Manager in resolving escalated day to day services, material delivery and performance issues in relation to the contracts - Review and comment on deliverables and interim payment certificates prepared by project team before passing to Project Manager. - Assist Project Manager in tracking budget expenditure. - Monitor all pre-commissioning checks and witness commissioning tests. Monitor progress of any remedial defects liability work and the release of retention monies. - Reviewing and submitting the recommended proposal solutions for such construction problem occurred at field. - Track and record the consultant's performance. - Create Snagging /De snagging list to ensure that the deliverables will comply with the standards and project specifications. Reporting and Project Documentation - Review and communicate project progress, prepare appropriate periodic progress reports as needed by project management team. Ensure they are in adherence to project specifications and schedule.
